During early childhood, physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development are taking place. Adequate nutrition throughout the early years of childhood is one of the key ways to ensure optimal growth and development. The course aims to equip caregivers with the knowledge needed to support parents in providing safe and healthy nutrition for toddlers and young children.
Throughout life, human bodies need the same nutrients, but in varying amounts and delivered in different ways. Young children’s nutritional needs vary from those of adults because of their ongoing growth and frequent physical activity. Early chldhood is also the season for children to form healthy eating habits. Thus this course divided into four parts will be focusing on:
- Introduction to early childhood Nutrition
- Eating behaviors in young children in young children
- Mealtime practices, routines and safety precautions
- Managing feeding challenges
