Enabling children to reach their maximum developmental potential is a fundamental human right and crucial for long-term sustainability. Home-based and center-based childcare services in Nigeria play a significant role in supporting nurturing care for childhood development. These services have unique access to families and caregivers during the crucial early years.

The Nurturing Care Framework for Early Childhood Development builds upon the latest evidence on child development and effective policies and interventions that can enhance early childhood development. It outlines what families and caregivers require to provide nurturing care for young children. The Framework takes a multi-sector approach and has been adapted by the Community Childcare Project to benefit mothers, and childcare professionals in low-income urban communities in Nigeria.

This blended training guide is designed for childcare professionals to implement the 5 components of nurturing care within their care environments.
