From the moment of conception, the human body depends on nutrition for growth, development, and long-term survival. During early childhood, physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development are taking place. Adequate nutrition throughout the early years of childhood is one of the key ways to ensure optimal growth and development. The course aims to equip caregivers with the knowledge needed to support parents in providing safe and healthy nutrition for infants
Throughout life, human bodies need the same nutrients, but in varying amounts and delivered in different ways. Young children’s nutritional needs vary from those of adults because of their ongoing growth and frequent physical activity. Thus this course, divided into four parts will be focusing on:
- Introduction to Infant Nutrition
- Supporting nursing Mothers
- Caring for infant meals and feeding utensils
- Techniques to infant feeding
- Introduction to solid foods
